Approach
Clean Reads was designed to simplify how readers access content-related information without overwhelming them. Initial research revealed that blogs, influencers, and forums often provide this information, but it is incredibly biased based on that reader's interpretation of the content and their comfort level. Competitors such as Goodreads and Storygraph have confusing layouts and lack the proper standardized information when it comes to accessing specific content in the books.
The interface prioritizes visual hierarchy through icons, imagery, and concise labels, reducing cognitive load and enabling users to scan information quickly. Navigation was designed to be flexible and user-driven. From each book’s description page, users can view content ratings, read community reviews, or customize their experience by filtering books based on their personal preferences. By minimizing excessive text and limiting the number of screens required to reach key information, the design supports clarity, accessibility, and ease of use.
